Injection into wrong spot on butt, Injection Abscess – Humorously Annoying Experience.

It was 2nd August 2016, I felt slight abdominal pain due to some urinary infection. The doctor prescribed a painkiller oil injection on my butt and told the nurse over there to administer the injection. Our body has skin covering all over and beneath the skin there is a subcutaneous tissue which is basically fat except in auricles, eyelids, pennis and scrotum. The layer of muscle lies under this subcutaneous tissue. Intramuscular injections must be given in the muscle, the needle must cross the fatty tissue and reach muscle and then the medicine must be injected. But unfortunately the nurse there, was in a great hurry and injected the medicine in the subcutaneous layer of my butt. Everything was fine after injection, there was no signs of bulge or abscess.

Later, after 16 days I could feel dull pain and lump sensation in my butt at the injection site. I got panicked in the beginning imagining it as tumor but after I realized that it was formed exactly at the injection site. I consulted a General Medicine Doctor, she examined it and said that it was just a necrotic tissue formed due to injecting wrongly, she also added that there was no sign of pus or fluid or skin colour texture change and it would cure itself in 2 months. She prescribed me Zerodol SP twice a day for 3 days.

Zerodol SP has a combination of  Aceclofenac, Paracetamol and Serratiopeptidase.  Aceclofenac and Paracetamol reduce pain and inflammation. Serratiopedtidase has been found to be an excellent alternative to salicylates (aspirin), ibuprofen, and the more potent NSAIDs. Unlike these medications, SerraEzyme is a naturally occurring enzyme and that does not irritate the digestive system. This super protein digesting enzyme breaks down “non living” matter in the human body, including cysts, arterial plaque, blood clots and scar tissue. It can reduce the levels of dead tissue in the circulatory system, promoting smoother healthier flowing blood. Serratiopeptidase fights fibrin build up in the cardiovascular system, organs and muscle tissue. In addition, histological studies also show it to be a powerful anti-inflammatory. It also is an anti-edemic, preventing swelling and fluid retention.

The lump got dissolved and there was no pain too. I was very happy because if it does not cure, there is only one way to get rid of it – the surgical operation way where they will suck the fluid and remove the lump by surgical operation. But my happiness did not last for long time, the same lump and pain sensation reappeared after 10 days again. I consulted the same doctor, she laughed and prescribed only Serratiopedtidase twice a day for three days. The lump got dissolved and pain disappeared. Anyhow, the same condition again bounced back after 15 days. This time I do not want to take chances, I consulted a General Surgeon in a Multi-Specialty Hospital. He too examined the situation and prescribed Chymoral Forte, Ampilox 500 thrice a day for five days. He did not advice surgery as it was just a lump of tissue with no fluid or pus. Once again everything became normal, the lump and also my happiness as I trusted the surgeon more.

Who all are reading this please do not curse me….. The same condition re bounced yesterday, ie 5th Oct 2016, which made me to write this post.

Oh God! I must consult the surgeon again and what would happen next???

To be continued…..

Abscess has not formed for me till now but the lump and pain are annoying as I cant sit in few positions. If you have similar condition or if you feel fluid and pus, please immediately consult your GP. Injection Abscess is not life threatening hazard, it is a very minor issue and sometimes if it occurs in your butt its comic too. 🙂

This post is just my experience and not to be used as medical advice.

Thank You.
